Americas 1 of 2 (Metallic Hi-light Fitted Crop Top)
White 52% Cotton/48% Polyester fitted crop top with black screen printed and hand painted original work at front. Metallic gold accent added to one image. "Americas” looks at symbols and how they relate to identity. Symbols can be enthralling, offensive, perhaps even meaningless or non -relatable to some viewers. We’ve been on a quest to discover our colorful heritage and lineage, which had mostly existed in heresay and stalled or seemingly lost at a couple of generations removed. In researching on a more general scale - Googling and visiting libraries or referring to textbooks, much that we gathered in perusing works, stuck as a series of symbols or images that we try to interpret and make sense of, heal from the fear and pain incited by some, and create our own to be excavated in the same form, hopefully with richer contexts and more complete stories and records for future generations. Represented by symbols or images, the story can never be complete. It can never convey the full truth. The imagery cannot replace the journies and souls who remain unknown.
